Addresses Not on the List
What if my community isn’t listed?
Ask before ruling it out. Call (720) 780-9549 or send a request with the street address and ZIP code, and we will reply to say whether the gate is in the area we cover.
My city is listed, but my ZIP code isn’t. What then?
Ask the same way. Several of these cities spread over more ZIP codes than the list shows, Denver most of all, so a missing code does not rule a job out. The street address is what settles it.
My mailing address names a different city from the one I live in. Which counts?
Around Denver, ZIP codes and city limits don’t line up neatly, so a mailing address can name one city while the house stands in another, or on unincorporated county land between them. Send the street address with the ZIP code, and that is enough to check.
Older Neighborhoods, Newer Suburbs and Business Gates
Denver’s older neighborhoods were laid out with alleys behind the houses, so many homes park off the alley and the gate that matters most is at the back of the lot. Rear gates there share tight space with trash carts, utility poles and the neighbors’ cars, which often favors a sliding gate or a single swing leaf over a double one. Narrow lots add a side gate between the houses as well, often on hinges and a latch that have seen decades of use.
Winter adds its own trouble in those alleys. They rarely see a plow, so packed snow and icy ruts can pin a gate that swings out over them, and posts that have stood for decades are the likeliest to have leaned with frost heave.
Many newer subdivisions in the suburbs come with a homeowners’ association. HOA rules often set the height, style and color of anything facing the street, so a new driveway gate, or a change to an existing one, may need the association’s approval first. Some subdivisions also have a gated entrance of their own, with a barrier arm and a keypad that the association looks after.
Toward the foothills, some lots in Lakewood and Arvada are big enough that the driveway gate stands far from the house. There, an intercom or a phone app saves a walk down the drive every time a visitor arrives, and a wireless model saves running cable the length of it.
Business gates work harder than either. Warehouses and fenced commercial lots run long slide or cantilever gates and barrier arms that may open dozens of times a day, so rollers, chains and operators wear sooner than on a home gate, and the entry system has to keep up with every shift change and delivery.
Gate Work at Your Address
Call (720) 780-9549 or send a request with the community and ZIP code and a few words about the gate: what it is doing, or what you want built. For a property near the edge of the area, add the street address.
